Islay whisky are intensely smoky but rich and full-boded.
In cocktails the smokiness can overpower other flavors. Cocktail Codex recommends splitting it with a Blended Scotch.
Can also be used to in a dasher bottle to add small pops of flavor to cocktails. Or in an atomizer to spray atop a cocktail for a savory aroma. 1
